Upper Deck

Anyone that knows me now may be shocked to learn that I was a football star in high school. I mean, when I threw those water bottles to the players, it was grace in motion. Despite being my golden ticket out of gym class and even out of high school a year early (longer story), I really did enjoy being a part of the team, even if I was only a manager. There was an energy on the field that was unlike anything else.

I'm very excited about a recent project and a new client not only because it allowed me to recapture that feeling, but also because it reunited me with an old friend and colleague that has become known for thinking outside of the box. Dave Sanders as a product manager at Upper Deck has brought an art-toy sensibility to sports collectibles.

Above is a sneak peek of a new NFL figure from Upper Deck's All-Star Vinyl line. To capture Matt Leinart and others yet-to-be-revealed, we spent a day at the amazing Los Angeles Coliseum. Fans of Leinart will enjoy seeing the figure play on the field where Matt earned his Heisman Trophy with USC.

Well, it is once again that special time of year when 175K+ of my geek bretheren converge on San Diego for a week of organized chaos and lining up for Mark Hamill to sign body parts. It is the joy of the San Diego Comic-Con!

I have a signing on Friday the 27th from 3-4pm for Hi Fructose Magazine at booth #4737. If you've got any unsigned skin left after seeing Mark, come on over.
