Million Dollar Cowboy Xmas

Million Dollar Cowboy Xmas

Jackson Hole, Wyoming is home to the only place I know of where you can literally saddle up to the bar. Open in one form or another since 1937, the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar has become an icon of the town and the American west.

In 1927, ten years before the doors to the bar opened, an article in the November 27th New York Times marked the beginnings of the modern, iconic Santa Claus everyone knows:

A standardized Santa Claus appears to New York children. Height, weight, stature are almost exactly standardized, as are the red garments, the hood and the white whiskers. The pack full of toys, ruddy cheeks and nose, bushy eyebrows and a jolly, paunchy effect are also inevitable parts of the requisite make-up.

It only took less than 80 years for the two icons to meet up and share some stories. Santa was nice enough to dress accordingly.

Wishing you safe and happy holidays from everyone at McCarty PhotoWorks!

-Brian
