Honk-Honk Ashoo

Funny enough, it's been a while since I photographed anything that was actually made with children in mind. I mean, who makes stuff for kids anymore?

Honk-Honk Ashoo seen above is a great example of the "art-toy" world coming full circle. Illustrator Ralph Cosentino, collaborating with his children, has managed to incorporate an artistic edge into toys that are still very much kid-safe and for the masses. And he's produced it all independently! I have to respect anyone that takes that kind of leap of faith into their work.

I had the pleasure of photographing the waking/play hours of this "sleepy time friend" for Singapore-based design & toy magazine PlayTimes. Hope you'll check out the issue!

Another designer doing their own thing artistically while thinking of the young'uns is Toren Orzeck through his Furilla creations. In celebration of Labor Day I'm releasing a special edition of 100 giclée prints featuring one of Tory's brainchildren cutting loose and loving life.
