A Night in the Drunk Tank with a Mullet Head
(See below for a chance to win a framed print!)

I thought you'd enjoy seeing the results of a series of images I've been working on for the fabulous crew at Achy Breaky Toys. We've been taking their "Mullet Heads" product line of figures into...um...their natural settings.

Pictured above is Moses Artimus Lester (AKA "The Carney") in the drunk tank of the Trousdale County Tennessee Sheriff's Department. Funny story about this location, it is the same jail where my mother spent a good portion of her youth.

Now before you start thinking bad things about my mama, let me explain. My grandfather, Tommy "Pop" Jones, was Sheriff for many years, and for those of you not familiar with small town jails, he and his family lived in the attached house.

In the years since she lived there (not saying how many - you're welcome mom), the house has become an office, but the drunk tank has remained basically the same. The thought occurred to me as I was smashing my nose against the bench in there to get the angle, "I wonder how many people have thrown up in here." I haven't felt clean since.

And be sure to check out the next issue of While You Were Sleeping magazine for more on Artimus Moses Lester and his checkered past with the law.

Happy Year of the Monkey,

Brian McCarty
